Visual Communication

I have studied visual design theory and taught visual communication and multimedia production at the university level. I am familiar with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite. I am also a skilled photographer. I have maintained a website that I designed myself since about 2003, when I first learned how to code.

Below are examples of Canva designs that I have adapted.

This first design is an infographic that I created for the WyACT survey that I led at the University of Wyoming. The survey focused on Wyoming residents’ perceptions of adapting to climate and water change. This work was funded by NSF Wyoming EPSCoR.

I also created this infographic of the survey results of the first public opinion survey on microbiome engineering of the built environment. This work was done in my role for NC State and funded by the NSF Precision Microbiome Engineering Research Center.

The next set of designs advertised the science journalism internship program that I created and directed at the University of Wyoming.

The screenshots below were developed from a social media campaign to recruit graduate student applicants to the University of Wyoming MA in Communication program that I directed from 2016 to 2021. I directed the content creation.
